In classical Ottoman poetry bade means wine. The wine called bade in those poems appears as an extraordinary elixir that makes one fall in love, a sherbet of love. In Sufi literature, bade stands directly for love — but not love as lived in the tangible world; the divine love felt by the Sufis.
We named ourselves after two loves: BAşak and DEniz. Our two children.
Uzunkum is one of the villages of Sapanca that has stayed unspoilt. It lies on the slope of the provincial forest, surrounded by fruit trees. Because we are on the slope, all of the bungalows look down over Lake Sapanca.
While building this place we cared about one thing: that a guest should have their own space. All three gardens are separated by fences; you share your pool, your lawn and your fire pit with no one. You have your privacy — yet we are close enough to reach quickly whenever you need something.
We are open in every season. In winter the stoves are lit and the pools heated; in summer the trees give shade and the cool of the lake arrives in the evenings.
